François Proulx presented on “Proust’s Ludic Landscapes” at the 42nd Annual Nineteenth-Century French Studies Colloquium at Brown University (October 2016).
Robert Rushing gave invited lectures at the Centre for Film and Screen Studies at Cambridge University, at Leeds University, and at Aarhus University in Denmark, during the fall.
Peter Tarjanyi presented a paper titled "Cutting the Umbilical Cord: Diaspora, Kinship, and Narratives of Return in The String (2010)" at the UCLA QGrad 2016 Conference in Los Angeles, California on October 28, 2016.
Gyula Zsombok gave a paper on "The Effect of Prescriptivism on the Use of Localized Terminology in French Newspapers" at the New Ways of Analyzing Variation (NWAV) annual conference in Vancouver, BC, Canada in November. At the same conference, he also co-presented a workshop, "Text Mining for Sociolinguistic Research," with Dr. Joseph Roy, Dr. Anna Maria Escobar, and Kate Lyons.
