Conference Presentations and Invited Talks
Daniel Brant presented a paper titled "Memory and the Environment on the Border: The Massacre River in Haitian Literature and History" at the annual meeting of the Haitian Studies Association in South Bend, Indiana.
Kirby Chazal presented her paper "The construction and management of incomplete visual displays in the L2 French classroom" at the International Conference for Interactional Competencies in Institutional Practices at the University of Neuchâtel in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, November 21-22.
François Proulx presented an invited talk at Harvard University on November 24, "Blank Traces: Proust and Hubert Robert."
Honors and Achievements
Congratulations to François Proulx who was just awarded a very competitive NEH Fellowship for 2015-16 for a project entitled "Reading and French Masculinity at the Fin de Siècle." With an average acceptance rate of 7%, this national award is among the most distinguished a faculty member can earn and 2011 was the last time a UIUC professor received one.
