François Proulx gave an invited lecture titled "P/Reparation: Barthes and Sedgwick" on April 18 at New York University, as part of a conference on "Barthes's Attachments." For more information, please click here.
Peter Tarjanyi gave a conference presentation titled "'Les filles sont mauvaises, il faut les fouetter de temps en temps' : fétichisme, violence et perversion chez Alain Robbe-Grillet" at the University of Kansas on April 12 as part of a conference titled "Chimères."
Congratulations to the following students, who have found positions for next year:
Patricia Dimit has accepted a position at Mary Institute and Saint Louis Contry Day School.
Stéphanie Gaillard will join Louisiana State University as an Assistant Professor of French, tenure-track; she will be the Director of Basic Language.
Azeb Haileselassie will be a Visiting Assistant Professor at West Virginia University (WVU), where her duties include coordinating first and second year French, teaching the French structure/linguistics course and other 300- and 400-level courses.
Brian Hunt has been awarded a Dissertation Completion Fellowship from the School of Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics, to complete, defend, and deposit his doctoral dissertation, “Centering the Border: Understanding Paris through Borderline Characters in Twentieth-Century French Theory, Literature and Film.” Director of research: Maggie Flinn.
