On Nov. 28, Todd Hamilton successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis: "Guyanité Expressed: The poetics of Serge Patient and Élie Stéphenson in the (re)construction of a national literary allegory". His committee consisted of professors H. Adlai Murdoch (director), Alain D. Fresco, Wail S. Hassan, Jane Kuntz and Laurence Mall. Congratulations, Todd!
Laurence Mall. "Politiques de l'auteur." Le Magazine Littéraire 514 (Décembre 2011), 58-59. Hers is one of a series of essays by Rousseau specialists in a Dossier marking the 300th anniversary of his birth.
Prof. Keller gave a talk on "Classicist Ideas of France" at the International Conference "The Idea of France" (University of Pittsburgh, Nov. 10-13).
Michael Foster presented a paper entitled "Assessing the Effectiveness of Incorporating Native Speaker Talk into Speaking Tasks" at the 4th Biennial International Conference on Task-Based Language Teaching at the University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand on November 18, 2011.
