Don't miss the international conference, "Shifting Paradigms: How Translation Transforms the Humanities," co-sponsored by French@Illinois/Department of French, being held October 14-16 in Levis Faculty Center. The conference begins with a keynote by Catherine Porter (6 p.m., 3rd floor Levis). Concurrent sessions run each morning and afternoon (Translation in the context of psychoanalysis, Political issues of translation/translation issues of politics, Translation in the classroom, Translation and new media, Translation issues in post-colonial studies—just a few session themes to give you an idea of how rich this program is). Faculty in French on the program: Jean-Philippe Mathy, Doug Kibbee, Zsuzsanna Fagyal, Adlai Murdoch, Patricia Phillips-Batoma. UIUC faculty and students pay no registration (though they are asked to register). The complete program is available here:
