Welcome to the Department of French and Italian
Our faculty focus in their research and teaching on French and Italian as well as the literature, visual culture, and other forms of cultural production in these languages in France, Italy and throughout the world.
Our course offerings cover a broad historical and thematic spectrum from medieval culture to postcolonial literature, contemporary film or sociolinguistics. Below are the subfields in which several faculty members share particular strengths.
Members of the faculty have received national and international recognition; graduates serve on the faculties of numerous colleges and universities both in this country and abroad.
